It’s time to stop festering inside with that bottle of cheap beer. Let everyone know that you’re still alive and have made it through yet another year by drinking with other humans. If you haven’t got friends and aren’t invited to a house party then we’ve found some pretty decent alternatives in London for 2016. Here’s our highly anticipated New Year’s Eve Events Guide.
East London is lubing itself up for another sell out NYE event at The Alibi. A guest DJ will be pressing play on the best of indiepop, new wave, post-punk and sixties music while the beers are flowing. With entry costing £10, we have a feeling it will be rammed.
9pm – 4am
Vintage Rock superstars Heavy Load are hosting their annual smoking NYE party at The Pheonix in Central London. Waft your way through the incense smoke and be blinded by the lights as regular DJs Rob & Karen play the best rock from the ’60s & ’70s. It’s £10 entry which includes a raffle ticket for a prize draw at 1am. We can hardly contain our excitement.
This pinball punk bar near Liverpool Street is hosting one of the best Sex Pistols tribute acts around this NYE – The Sex Pistols Experience. After 15 years of performing, this band guarantees not disappoint and have also gained respect from SP fans and the original members. Entry is £12 in advance.
7pm – Late
For a basic booze up, Roadtrip will have you covered with their Americana style dive bar in Old Street. If you’re an ol’ bastard then we suggest you make a reservation otherwise you’ll probably end up getting achy legs from standing. It’s free entry and there’s a biker Happy Hour from 7pm till 9pm so make sure you get there early to lock and load on cheap booze.
6pm – 3am
North London boozer The Boogaloo is amping up the rock ‘n’ roll with the sounds of the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s. Though it sounds like a good night, they are charging the most startling price of £26.43. Who’s dick do we have to suck to get in?
8pm – 2am
If you’re after live music and something a bit more dancey then Barfly has your back. There’s enough room to throw some of your most prized moves but I would refrain from doing the worm on that forever sticky floor. Prices start from around £9.
All fucking day
Head to this glorious hill in North London and enjoy the best view in the city. As long as it doesn’t rain just grab a hipflask and bask in firework glory. Cheers to another year of booze, sex and rock ‘n’ roll. Fuck yes.
