We can smell the parmigiano already. Just as we’ve made it past the misery of Dry January, we’re forced to reveal our softer side and find it in our bourbon stained hearts to spare a thought for someone other than ourselves. Well, bollocks to that. At The Carouser, we’re celebrating our first and only love – booze. So whether you’re alone at the bar or trying to tolerate that person across the candle lit table from you, just smile in the knowledge that you’re not alone. You’re with alcohol, and alcohol will never leave you… unless you’re having sober fun, then shame on you.
Food: If you’re really going to go for dinner, please Satan, let it be a roast. The Lexington in Angel are hosting a Blues Feast on Sunday which includes a house band and free Bloody Marys or Mimosas. Ignore the romance, this is a chance to feast on Pork Belly, gorge on booze and be soothed by the sweet, sweet sounds of live blues. To book email email@example.com
Book: Maybe you are feeling loved up and that’s ok. One of the greats, Charles Bukowski, knows exactly how you feel. To be enjoyed with a good bourbon, Bukowski’s The Pleasures Of The Damned is a selected collection of his poems from 1951 – 1993. Maybe you’ll get some inspiration for that love letter you were going to write, you soppy sod.
Event: The North London brewery Beavertown are hosting a mass tasting for Valentines AND their 4th birthday. It’s set to be an assault on the senses as Beavertown will be hosting a range of beers to try and showcasing their new Double Neck Oil. Who said romance is dead? Free entry and more info here.
Drink: For our obligatory red wine selection we are still endlessly lusting over Queen’s Millionaire Waltz Malbec. Their rock star plonk from Argentina is good enough to give but so much more rewarding to keep.
Gift: Question. What can make any mundane occasion a little bit better? Alcohol! So it only makes sense that any drinker’s perfect present is this hipflask… and not only a hipflask, but it comes with its own incognito hollowed-out book. Your hours spent searching for the perfect present is over. Unless your partner doesn’t drink then shame on you twice.
Music: Flamboyant rockers The Struts are about to embark on their new US tour this month and are teasing fans in their new video Kiss This which displays behind the scenes footage, extravagant outfits and shows. The song is taken from their new album Everybody Wants which will be available from the 4th March. Till then… kiss this.
