In Yellowstone Season 5, John Dutton’s (played by Kevin Costner) list of enemies hasn’t changed much. Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham) has made it clear that they have unfinished business, but John still has to deal with Market Equities, Sarah Atwood (Dawn Olivieri), and Wes Bentley’s adopted son Jamie.
Even though John always seems to beat his enemies, one of the stars of the Paramount drama has added to the idea that now may be the time that he is kicked out of his family home.
John is in a bad spot at work and at home. Jamie wants to get rid of him as Governor, and an outbreak of brucellosis threatens to wipe out his herd of cattle.
Even though Jamie’s attack isn’t widely known yet, John’s decision to send the herd south for the winter means he’ll lose a number of trusted allies from the bunkhouse.
Rip (Cole Hauser), Ryan (Ian Bohen), Teeter (Jen Landon), Walker (Ryan Bingham), and Jake (Jake Ream) will travel to Texas for at least a year to prevent the disease from spreading to the cattle.
This comes at a cost, both personally and financially, as it leaves John’s daughter Beth (Kelly Reilly) without her husband and forces Ryan to end his growing relationship with Abby (Lainey Wilson).
John thinks that the move makes sense, but it’s safe to say that Beth doesn’t agree because of the cost.
But Jefferson White, who plays Jimmy Hurdstrom, Denim Richards, who plays Colby, and Bohen have all hinted that it could be even worse for the ranch in the long run.
On Paramount’s Inside the Bunkhouse, the three talked about Ryan’s choice to leave Abby and John’s choice in general.
Bohen told Ryan, “Yeah, my timing wasn’t great.” “I hadn’t told anyone yet that I was leaving town for a long time, probably a year.
“She goes a little crazy and storms off. He [Ryan] explains it really succinctly, you know.
“This is your big chance, your dreams, your singing, you’re on stage, that’s your life. I’m out there with the herd keeping them warm and getting them through. So simple, right? That’s my dream.
“And she gets it. She kisses me, and then I lose her. So, it works out. “The way of the cowboy is to give up.”
Ryan is however optimistic about his future with Abby: “Having said that, I hope that we settle this issue quickly and decide to return to where we belong as soon as possible since I miss my girlfriend.”
