Reactions to the release of the film
Over the course of the four-day weekend, Way of the Water brought in $82 million, bringing its total box office earnings in its first 10 days to $280 million.
In fact, it has already surpassed the first Avatar and is the eighth-highest grossing film of 2022 after less than two weeks.
It is currently the fifth-highest grossing film globally and is on track to overtake Top Gun’s $1.4 billion in box office revenue.
Avatar: The Way of Water swims beyond the $1 billion threshold globally with about $315 million from domestic markets and $710 million from overseas markets.
By the end of its theatrical run, it seems likely that Avatar: The Way of Water will surpass the $2 billion mark if present patterns hold.
