Ever since the ’60s, festivals have been infamously linked to drug taking from the carefree days of Woodstock to the farms of Glastonbury. But do people still take drugs at festivals and are they still an important part of the experience?
The Dark Side of Festivals: Substance Use Continues
One website TickPick took it upon themselves to discover if taking drugs are still part of the festival experience. They surveyed over 1000 people at a number of well-known music festivals and the results were intriguing.
Alcohol was naturally the most popular choice for all festivals with marijuana following closely behind. Interestingly, VIP attendees were more likely to indulge in drugs than alcohol whereas those with general admission tickets consumed a lot more alcohol.
